As I laid down one evening in October 2015, I placed paper and pen on my nightstand just in case I needed to jot down some ideas for the art center. Waking up from a very vivid dream, I reached for the paper and pen to quickly write down what I saw. I was so afraid that I would forget the details as dreams can sometimes be hard to remember, but not this one.
There was an image of a woman sitting on an elephant holding a spear surrounded by a field of yellow wildflowers. The sky behind her is a looming dark gray with the sun peeking through the clouds and just enough rays to illuminate the name "Elegant Warrior” in the fields above her.
I was mesmerized. Although I had no idea where this image came from, I knew that it was beautiful, and the connection felt so strong as two of my favorite things are elephants and sunflowers. It was suggested to me to have the image drawn out, and so I did. The next time I saw my logo, it was a simplified version of my dream, but it looked like the epitome of the name “Elegant Warrior”, an image representing woman empowerment. I defined Elegant Warrior as one who not only fights to overcome obstacles but also for her visions, dreams, and goals.
